Introduction

SEED is acronym of Social equality for effective Development,

which is a non-political, non-profitable, secular and non-government female headed gender sensitive organization established in 14th January, 2002 by the active initiative of female social workers, educationists and philanthropists to develop an appropriate alternative development approach and working strategy for the development of the poor, marginalized, discriminated and stigmatized women of minority communities groups. Since inception SEED focuses on establishing the rights of the backward and disadvantaged women in the society. As a coping mechanism SEED adopts decentralized participatory management system in program implementation for making the program socially accepted and people oriented. Further, the organization has been implementing the programs/project with due commitment as a result it has become able to establish a positive image among all level stakeholders.

Goal and Objectives

The goal of the organization is to ensure the socio-economic development of the lagging behind, oppressed, powerless, undeveloped, and disaster risk-prone community of the poor and hardcore poor women in society, along with rehabilitation and assistance to all types of disabled persons.

Specific objectives of the organization are therefore, as follows

To extend overall cooperation for the improvement of life and livelihood irrespective of caste, creed, religion, and gender for all poor women and men, boys, adolescents, and all kinds of disabled people.
Provide formal education for under-five and dropout children to increase the national education rate.
Establish rights & entitlements of women & children, gender equity & equality to stop all kinds of violence against women & children.
Ensure involvement of women, girls, children, disabled, and aged people in any initiative and ensure child labor protection to build them as future citizens.
Include training regarding modern agricultural extension for rural cultivators to aid their development in the agricultural field.
Take up awareness initiatives to protect against violence and trafficking of women and children.
Assist affected persons with relief and rehabilitation during disasters and dangers.
Implement projects for the socio-economic development of the ethnic/aborigine/tribal community.
Promote socio-economic development by making the destitute men and women of the char (river bank village) area disaster tolerant through Climate Change Adaptation projects.
Develop and rehabilitate physically and mentally disabled persons.
Enhance the capacity of rural ultra-poor communities in northwest Bangladesh to address the adverse impacts of floods, droughts, and other natural calamities due to climate change on their lives and livelihoods.
Initiate Go-NGO and community partnership initiatives.
